2nd Tuesday and NOS Holiday Party Mashup 12/9

Will be 7:30, Dec. 9, at Stetsons, 1610 U. Street NW.

Some light food will be provided, as well as beverage.

Sounds like we're playing the gift swap game once again, so bring a wrapped, scooter-related present of modest value and join the fun.

Re: what up smack talkers?

Maybe. My deal is that Beth often has a class to teach on Tuesdays and so I need to get home at some point to feed dogs. Being that I often work late Tuesdays and Wednesdays, it might be more feasible for me to be somewhere by 7ish, have a quick beer then head out to be home by 8ish. Don't change pl...

Passed a rider down

Came across a rider down on my ride home tonight. Guy on a GSX-R, with a back protector, full-face helmet, shorts, t-shirt, sneakers. Rt. 1 and Paint Branch Parkway/Campus Drive, across from the UMD gates, on the northbound side. Looked like he tried to use a right turning lane to get around backed ...

Funny Aussie take on a BMW R9T

This struck me as the right mix of funny and informative for a motorcycle video review, and after watching it, I'm less inclined to want one.

Re: what up smack talkers?

So I talked smack and didn't make it out last night (wife caught a glass teaching gig last minute and I needed to get home for the dogs). Question: does anyone ever get to the WMASA meet ups early?

Re: what up smack talkers?

My P200 has fresh gas and I'm not on deadline this week. I should go. I love Reubens and at least like you all.

Re: Scooterist killed on Connecticut Ave last Fri.

It kind of surprised me that the WashPo followed up on the accident and found out who it was. I'm sorry that some of us have distant connections to the woman. Just this morning I was thinking I've finally gotten back to motorcycle/scooter commuting more regularly, having backed off about two years a...

Re: Lambretta shifting cable

Thanks for the thoughts, got back to it on Saturday and (before rain cut me off) had it shifting relatively smoothly, with some difficulty getting into first. Had to pull the horncast and reposition the cable inners in their upper perches and also replaced both inners, rather than just the one that ...

Lambretta shifting cable

So, would the correct way to set the shifting adjustment after replacing a cable inner go something like this: A) start with the trunions loose on both cables and the barrel adjusters screwed in, line up the neutral indicator and pull cables nearly, but not super tight B) tighten both trunions, C) s...

Re: 2003 ET4 for sale

I love and miss this scooter -- and am terribly tempted to make you an offer to buy it back (but it wouldn't fit in my life right now so I'm telling myself I won't). I forget what the variator roller weight combo was on this, but when the optimal rollers were fresh, this would pull into the low 70s....

Re: How many miles a year do you travel by vintage scooter?

My odometer seems accurate, but my speedometer only seems roughly accurate until about 40, past which it just kind of flutters. Never really figured this one out.

Re: How many miles a year do you travel by vintage scooter?

Hit a milestone last East Coast Classic and since then, to this day, its been 500 miles on the P200, with a 34 mile fun ride today to round it out. Again, can't say how may miles on Beth's Lammy (you could probably factor 5 miles every other week, for 130, but that's just making numbers up), and the...
