Ramsay and Heytens - CL Search?

Postby AirborneVespa » Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:16 am

I think both of you have mentioned some site that allows you to search across multiple CL sites. Care to share?

There is a specific site, buit I can't remember what it is. In google, you can just type "chotsky site(craigslist.org)" I think you can do a regional CL search through Paisans.

That's likely it, and of course it's blocked at work.

Good seeing you this weekend...

Try searchtempest.com

Put in your search criteria, zip code, and miles from zip to search.

I keep it simple and just use Google advanced search. I type in the domain as craigslist.org and the date to look for (like one week old or newer).

i'll type in the search words like "vespa" "project" "parts" "turn over" "won't" "broken" "fed up" "my loss is your gain" "got married, had a baby, lost my testicles, and now I can't" etc...

If you want to keep it local then exclude craigslists area names which are too far away.

This is no where near as good as what those other sites claim to do though.

Also just try using Google with this syntax: ItemWanted site:Craigslist.org

Substitute whatever you are searching for for the "ItemWanted" portion, followed by a space, the word "site" a colon & then "craigslist.org" ( or any other webpage for that matter ) to find the specific info you're after.

Craiglist won't allow jaxed to list their stuff anymore, and now I noticed that you can't search google either using ItemWanted site:Craigslist.org. Something about CL being local and wanting to keep it that way. HOW am I supposed to faux shop for old stuff I don't need now?

I got 2 p200's off CL using the search tempest site, neither of which i would have found using my local CL. I like that you can search by distance and by city if you like on searchtempest, but for some reason if I search over 350 miles from Fred. I get California listings, so there is a bug of some sort with it. It also saves your searches, which is nice.

On a related note, I just ran my first ad's in some small and free newspapers in western MD and central PA looking for scoots. Was hoping to score the mate to Heytens Shriner Lambretta... but only got 1 call about a Vespa moped :( . Thinking end of August is not the best time for such things as everyone seems to be on vacation. Dirth of scoots on the CL lately in general, but assume things will pick up this month as summer winds down.

Sweet. Looks like a great tool....for now.... I wonder how long they have til CL gives them a cease and desist as happened just this past week to jaxed.
