FS P200 Frame and PX 150 Engine

Postby epsato » Tue May 28, 2013 9:34 am

Folks, it's time to get my project started! I'm stealing my p200's engine to power my PX and am going to end up a spare frame and a spare engine.

Available for sale's a burgundy 1979 P200 frame. Everything but the motor's included and the frame's even got a title. Asking price is $750.

Also for sale is a PX150engine with about 6k miles. Solid runner, still starts on the first kick. Would include the carb and a sito+ exhaust. Asking $600.

I'd do $1250 for the pairing, but for someone on the board I'm willing to consider offers/trades. Posting here first before sending up to scoot.net.

I like the color as well, but my PX has proven to be better in terms of stopping power and a few other amenities I like. Scooter sales seem to be slow these days, so who knows? If I can't sell it, something's bound to happen eventually...

Wouldn't it make more sense to just kit the PX and sell one of the bikes? You could sell the P200 as a P200 and then use the proceeds to purchase a 177 kit and a 216 chamber. You have money left over and wouldn't be stuck with a PX with a 200 motor that will likely be a harder sell without its electric start and a P200 that's worth less due to having a PX mill.

Just seems to make more sense to keep the proper motors in the proper bikes if the numbers match.

That makes too much sense. LOL

I've looked into 177 kits, it's a lot of work and $$$ for an engine that will give the same power as a stock p200.

That said, there are folks with p200 engines for sale out there. I could just buy one and install it on the PX.

Fair enough. If anyone wants the p200 as a p200, it can be had for $1800.

Anyone seeking a p200?

Dude,

I've seized enough that I can tell you throwing that 177 kit on there is no big deal...we could do it in an afternoon but I know you have good wrenches up there who could assist as well....just saying....I'd keep the P and sell the PX....and if you need more stopping power do a Stella front end like I did....of course my P isn't as clean as your's is but it's still an option.

You can buy a new Malossi PX200 engine case. Then a lot of the parts in your PX150 will transfer over. Then build a pretty much new PX200 electric start, injected engine, for around $1800, the selling price of your P200. I put it at $1800 if you use a lot of the parts from the 150. I started to price it out for a completely brand new parts engine and it was around $2600, but stupid little things that cost a lot are the same on the 150 and 200 so you don't need some parts. You'll need a case made for electric start if you want to retain that. You could do this with an older P200 case but would be a lot more difficult to do electric start.

To do the 150 to 200 swap and rebuild the motor you need a cases, a crank, a cylinder, and a head. The rest would swap over. If you mix and older P200 case with the PX150 then you will need the primary gear also. And you may want to change the 4th gear out.

In my opinion it's easier and cheaper to take the motor out of the P200 and put it in the 150 and give up on electric start. You'd probably only loose about $300 to $500 off the selling price of the P200 frame with the PX150 motor.
