How many miles a year do you travel by vintage scooter?

Postby fredneckscoots » Wed Nov 30, 2011 1:55 pm

I got to checking odomoters last night and it seems I traveled 1,546 miles by vintage scooter so far this year, which was surprising to me since I only put-put around town for the most part. I ride on many days, but not most days, and not very far.

Just curious what other local riders average on miles by scoot in a years time?

It adds up pretty quickly for sure...........but it's hard for me to tell since: 1) I'm not really paying attention, and 2) I split my riding up between four bikes.

I'm pretty sure I ride about 1-2k a year on the vintage bikes.

Same here: 1-2k on strictly vintage (maybe 500 more if you add miles I put on the wife's Stella). Most of this is putting around town or blowing off 20 miles out in the woods on a Sunday afternoon.

Then 5-6k on the plastic fantastic, should-be-a-motorcycle twist-n-scoot.
Its a long walk through the city in the rain, its a long walk from train to train.

Probably somewhere under 50 miles. My scooter's not technically "vintage"

Probably about 5K.** It would be more if I didn't use the Harley on long trips.

** - includes Corsa: IFP mileage & must emphasize that I ride pretty much year round in the F-L-A.

Strictly scooter, or vintage period?

I put around 4500 miles on my RD the first year I owned it. (Well, the first year it was on the road) Best 4500 miles ever.

I used to do at least 3k miles a year when I was working in Philly, but that's dropped considerably now that my commute is much longer (the options are 45 minutes by car, 90 minutes via scooter or (according to google) 3 hours via mass transit including a 1.6-mile walk on a 45-mph twisty road with no sidewalk, shoulder or streetlights).

Oh, just scooters. Just curious how much riding I was doing compared to others.

Epsato: Under 50? So like the 4 times Ive seen you with your scooter are the only times you've ever ridden it?

Harley: What's the 5k on, a P200?

Tedford: 3K in Philli is pretty serious. That's a lot of cheesesteaks.

My Ramones P125X (P215), PX200, Li150 Ser.1, and Serveta(I have yet to put any miles on the Jet so I was just bragging that I own this).

How often do you ride up in NoVa/DC/MD - weekly with cooperating weather, all the time no matter what (except for days like 'snomaggedon'), or just the good months (Apr-Oct)?
It was 32 yesterday morning here (WTH?) but warmed up to 72 for my ride home. It will cool down over the next few months to lows in the 20s daily. So it can be pretty surprising to people who think the F-L-A is easily warm year round.

Hey Garrett, how many rods have you ridden since you moved to SD? A rod, of course, being a unit of measurement equaling 16.5 feet.
