Postby fredneckscoots » Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:55 pm

here is a list of the scooters for sale tomorrow at the Bmore unclaimed vehicle lot. 1 vespa if anyone feels lucky, or perhaps a Dongfang. Sounds horrible.

Don't recongnize this serial number; ZAPM688F3B5400078 and it says it's a 2011 model. Must be an automatic vespa.

If you buy something from an auction like this what chance is there of getting a title and putting it on the road?

Thanks, Dale

Pretty good chances you won't have a problem if you go through vermont with no paperwork.

If you try to get the title from MD it may be a pain in the ass.

I dunno Mike. If it's a City sell off, they probably provide paper work to be able to get a title. Doubt they'd be selling the Ford without a title, same would go for any other vehicle that requires a title by law.
That's not going anywhere

That would be great if they did, but I would not bank on it. It would be worth a shot. Also FYI the fees in MD for registration are about 3 times the cost that it is in Vermont. Also the renewals are way cheaper there. So if MD gave any trouble at all I would not hesitate to just go through Vermont.

What's the process of going through Vermont? You can register it there, get a title and then transfer it to your state? I'm in Va

Thanks

VT is super easy. They even allow it online, and you don't need to be a VT resident.

I misspoke. You can download the forms online and mail them in. You don't need a VT address to register the vehicle.

Here's the link to get the forms:

He may need a VIN Verification, read the fine print for vehicles 15 years old or newer. On that note, would VT accept a MD state inspector to do that? The info provided seems to suggest yes but it is vague. Otherwise, one would need to scam the state troopers or MVA as they wouldn't do it willingly unless you have a pal there. If a licensed MD state inspector is qualified by VT to do a VIN verification, (and if it's indeed necessary,) find a friendly one, tell him what's up and slip him $40. It should be an easy 5 minutes at $480/hr for the inspector.

If one just needs to get a title for a thirty year old vehicle, and doesn't plan to be riding the vehicle in the near future, does anyone know if VT requires liability insurance to get a VT registration??

thx,
