a classic right-of-way violation. I hope the truck driver has been suitably charged.
About 8:25 a.m. on Friday, D.C. police said, a truck turned left from northbound Connecticut onto 36th Street. It crossed into the path of the scooter, which collided with the truck, police said.

My coworker knows her and her fiancee... two weeks before their wedding date, she was leaving her final dress fitting.

It kind of surprised me that the WashPo followed up on the accident and found out who it was. I'm sorry that some of us have distant connections to the woman.
Just this morning I was thinking I've finally gotten back to motorcycle/scooter commuting more regularly, having backed off about two years ago after a few too many close ones. And on the way in I see a driver race a light at 18th and L, sending pedestrians (who were jaywalking) scrambling for the sidewalk. Be vigilant, friends.

Its a long walk through the city in the rain, its a long walk from train to train.
