Another interesting bike in the "classic" standard category this year is the Honda Shadow RS. The Shadow line is a cruiser line, but this year, for the RS, Honda redid the foot peg and handlebar ergonomics to make it more of standard. Not sure its my cup of tea, but it is a very comfortable bike to sit on. (Adding this to the conversation because I ended up parked next to one this morning.)
Its a long walk through the city in the rain, its a long walk from train to train.

The Shadow sort of reminds me of a Sportster 883.
