In the market

Postby normratscoots » Sat Apr 27, 2013 11:34 am

Hey all: I'm officially shopping for a used motorcycle for commuting and longer excursion. So if you're sitting on something, or know someone who is ... I'm open to suggestion. Pulled in different directions. Looking at Ninja 500s, DR 650s, DRZ 400s, Ninja 250r (2008 and up), SV650 (the naked version with the more laid back bars), etc. Running well and titled are absolutes. Acceptable mileage up to 7.5k or thereabouts (maybe a little higher with good service records).
Its a long walk through the city in the rain, its a long walk from train to train.

Insured at $210.35 per year, Dairyland. Now Saturday brings inspection and DMV.

Yeah I'm at like $175 for my DR-Z's insurance. The real rediculousness came when I registered it. It cost me around $475 for tags, title fee and tax. (Plus I used Terry's Tag and Title to do my registration to avoid the MVA, they charge ~$30, well worth it for the time savings) I think my inspection was another $45.

Let me know how your MVA trip goes, I heard recently they stopped issuing two year tags, plus the new and improved $100 title fee, up from $25.

I realize it's a bit of extra cash, but the Terry's Tag and Title route, is worth every penny. I think it took me about 10 minutes there, opposed to half a day at the MVA. The Maryland system is so terrible.

Doh... Beltsville, Largo and White Oak MVAs (and I assume all of them) say they only do licensing services during Saturday hours. Maybe a tag/title place will be the answer.

Sure... whatever, I have a coworker who spent 15 weekends in jail for a speeding ticket in Virginia. (Albiet it was 105 in a 50, but it's still a speeding ticket, fine him and take his license, but WTF, jail?)

With additional freedoms, comes great responsibilities.
