Wanda Jackson 12/11

Postby Serendipity » Fri Oct 12, 2012 1:02 am

This gal is back in DC. I've never seen her live and I don't know this venue, but I'd like to check it out. At the Hamilton on 12/11.

Having seen her in Long Beach and at the Black Cat, I would call this a must see.
She is a hall of famer that doesnt take her audience for granted in the least.
And shes like your grandmother, if your grandmother had pipes and slept with Elvis.

Wanda's "lets have a party" is featured in a crate and barrel ad.

I know, but I feel less conflicted about it than the Pogues "sunny side of the street" used in a subaru commercial that depicted a mom taking her kids to soccer practice. Presumably she used to be a drunken whore but now she lives on the sunny side of the street.

shoot, my office christmas party is scheduled for the 11th now.

"shoot, my office christmas party is scheduled for the 11th now."

Office party=mandatory fun=suckfest( and not in the Linda Tripp blue dress evidence sort of way) or seeing somebody so transcendental that the hipster at the ad agency who discovered this previously unheard artist could get the suits at corporate land of plain white yuppie dishware sold to people vigourously and uniformly proclaiming their individuality to put her in their national tv campaign.

its a small office and my absence would be noted. Plus the show starts at 7:30, right during the time we'd be sitting down to eat, so I can't bail out early.
