Badge Installation Question

I have two new badges to install on my scoot. They have metal posts out the back and I have read, to do this correctly, I trim down the post to about 1/8" and then pound so they flar out. Is this correct?

I've also seen then with little black clips on the back but I can't find those, and don't know what they are called so its hard to search for them. I would like to use this option because I'm less likly to jack up my paint job.

Anyone have any advice?

Either go to a hardware store, badge in hand, and find something that fits or buy some from a scooter specific shop. The store you bought the badges from should have them.
