Fuel Tap Rod.

Postby Zeets » Wed May 08, 2013 10:39 am

Does anyone have a Large Frame Vesap fuel tap rod laying around they can measure for me? I'm looking for the length from where the cast lever section ends to the slot for the pin, and then length overall from the same spot.

P-series (SIP fast-flow replacement at least) - 8" from tip to start of cast lever piece. Center of hole in end for pin is 1/4".

Other LFs (such as the SS) have a rod that's about 1 1/4" shorter.

Not sure about earlier models, none outside of the scooters :)

Meh... thanks, but this is old news. I just made my tap rod too long and then I machined a flat spot down one side and drilled holes along it the whole range of possible lenght. Once I had the new fuel tap in, I put the tank in the bike, put the rod through the hole, measured how much I wanted gone and then removed it.

Sure, sure... I could have spent $8 on a new one, but I had some 1/4" SS rod here at work and needed to familiarize myself with the mill. Good news is it worked and it didn't cost me anything.

I figured you'd have figured something out by now, I just saw a question I could answer and thought it'd be useful for the next poor sap trying to find obscure information :)

What'd you put on the end as a knob? If you made your own I hope something not as boring as a "C" and "R" lever :)

I wrote on the body of the scooter with a sharpie at the appropriate positions 0 for off 1 for on and R for reserve. I'm not that creative. I supposed it would have been better if I had used "No Flow, Flow, and Rut Ro Flow" but my handwriting sucks and my P-Touch was out of label. And the handle is just a 60 or so degree hook I bent in the end and covered in heat shrink. Maybe I'll try to come up with something before ECC.
