Pre-stolen scooter

Postby Serendipity » Sun Aug 14, 2011 12:25 pm

This scooter is not technically stolen, but I figure it's a matter of time. It is parked closed to where the matte black allstate owner's first scooter was stolen a few years ago. I've been walking by for almost a week now it's been "locked" up by not one but two expensive locks- the first bike lock, is hooked around the shock, and the second is loosely draped around the neck. It would be better with no lock at all because this just seems like a taunt!

Easy enough to slip the chain off the headset and the u-lock isn't really an impediment so long as you don't turn too sharply to the right. Since it's a P2E it's easily hot wired. I'll be down in a couple of hours to pick up my new bike.

TF- I'm glad I'm not the only non-thief who feels tempted by this!

As a good samritan you should leave a note and tell them that they should lock it up better.

They may not even realize what they are doing.

I have been looking to see who the owner is as, but the bike has not been moved all week! I was thinking of leaving a note, but was afraid that an unimaginative thief might read it as instructions...

Leave a note that says, "Call me about your scooter" and leave your number :)

Not exactly the same, I made what ended up being a very close friend this way, in NOLA. I had been there a week and I got a note with a phone number. Once he got over the fact that I was a woman, it was all good.

Who you calling "non-thief"? I was only stopped by the starter on the truck going belly-up and me not being able to replace it in the monsoon.

Yeah, talk is cheap Tedford. I'm no saint, but neither one of us could steal a scooter- it's just bad juju. You couldn't couldnt couldn't...not even to pay for a fancy stroller!

Ha--no, I'd just be replacing the P2E that was stolen from me 12 years ago, never recovered. ;) Plus, I have yet to sell a scooter--I'm hoarding them!

Realistically Tedford, you wouldn't be stealing a scooter, you'd just be getting yours back.
