Free Motorcycle/Scooter Parking

Postby normratscoots » Thu Jan 09, 2014 12:20 pm

The city, in its infinite wisdom, has removed the parking meters in the motorcycle lot at M and Connecticut, pouring concrete in the post holes. So there's free, daytime, weekday parking downtown. By sharing this, I'm sure I'll come in one spring day and find it packed -- like it used to be, a few years ago, before the meters were installed.
Its a long walk through the city in the rain, its a long walk from train to train.

I often am, until the metro card starts running out of funds.

And it is gone. Last week signs went up saying no parking Tues-Thurs for bicycle lane line painting. The parking lot at M and Connecticut is no more. It is now a bike lane. Eye and 20th has some 50 cent/hour parking interspersed with some meters offering $2/hour.

I did not notice this morning that the lot was moved around the block to Rhode Island Ave. Its sort of a jumble, at present, because the motorcycle lot signage overlays parking meters set up for cars and cars are taking up about half the space, but parking life could be worse.

I just park my bicycle by the steps in my building... it's free.
